Your mil was a women that believed in Corporal punishment.
She involved you by getting the brush for your fiancée and you did that without any questions.

I think when she grasped your wrist and slapped your behind was the moment for you to protest and refuse the spanking, but you didn’t.
I think it’s very good from you to accept her punishment, your behavier was out of line and you were living in her house.
And you knew how disobedience and bad behavier was dealt with by your mil.

I was wondering if the slaps you got on the spot were painful, did she spank hard?
Did she lead you upstairs by your arm or ear, did she slap on the stairs ?

The position you describe she put you in was over one knee with you banging over her leg with your arms and legs free.
Getting the brush like that must have hurt very very much.
You told that it was embarrasing getting spanked at 20, I got it my last at 24 and as a punishment it worked very good.
Age is no issue, if it hurts like it should.

Was there something said by your mil after your spanking when you came downstairs or the next day?
You must have had difficulty sitting, where there no remarks from her ?
