am divorced and have no children of my own. My sister, who is two years older than me, is a mom of three children - 2 girls and one boy.

My sister and I were raised in a strict family setting. Dad was not around much because of his job so mom was the main disciplinarian in the family. Spankings were common in our home along with other means of keeping us in line, e.g., groundings, early bed times, extra chores, etc.

My sister is just like our mom and will not tolerate the misbehavior that we see in many children now a days. She is strict with my nieces and nephew, and like me believes that spanking should always be an option in raising her kids. I have the same beliefs and have disciplined her three kids when they have been under my control with my sister's and her husband's permission.

I know the goal of this new group is to bring together others with the same concerns regarding the disciplining children to insure they grow up to be well behaved individuals. I have the same concerns and would like to discuss these with others who feel similar to what I believe needs to be done in raising children.
