I do know what you mean by warning spanks, our hand smacks their bottom in a different way then a swat. I do both. But they do not replace a spanking. They are as you said a "Warning". And when I place my hand hard with a warning spank or swat to Joseph's bottom only clothed by his nightshirt he jumps and squeals if I give 2 fast ones he will have wet eyes.

Some time they do the job, most time my boy is too stubborn and I end up spanking him.
