This phenomenon is very strange indeed, but seems to be consistent in most spanking households. It was certainly the case for my sisters and me growing up. After getting our bare butts worn out over Mom or Dad’s knee, we were angelic for a few days and often clung to whichever parent spanked us.

This is true with my own kids too. Immediately after I soundly spank their bare bottoms, they are completely dissociated from the world, lost to the burning, stinging sensation that consumes their bottoms. First, they cry hard and jump around while rubbing their blazing butts, but after spending thirty minutes with their noses to the wall, they are calmer and totally compliant. They often run off to their rooms still bare and burning to regain their senses, but after recovering and rejoining the family, eyes still red (not to mention their bottoms), they are like jelly. They lean up against me. Ask me what I’m doing and if they can help. And most times they will apologize for having behaved so poorly.

It seems like spankings would cause the opposite to happen, but instead they reinforce the parent / child bond.

You’d think using cold water to make ice would be best, but warm water actually freezes faster than cold. Weird world. Don’t try to understand it, just accept that it is the way it is.
