It has always been a puzzle to me how after a good spanking, a boy's relationship with his mother is strengthened. I have found this to be the case with our 3 sons after a pants down session bent over their Mum's knee. Yet the same does not appear so with our daughter. I suppose she is a bit of a Dad's girl which might explain the gender variation on this. Boy, does she have the pits and sulks after a good hard spanking from my wife.

Over the years I have noticed that pretty much every time after a sound bare bottom spanking over Irene's knee, all the boys become putty in her hands. They become doting, surprisingly obedient, and begin helping with the household chores uncomplainingly. They are meek in her company and share a giggle or two. Not for long this strange behaviour, I grant you, but for a few hours at least, I can see the evidence of nurturing and bonding between mother and son. It is almost surreal.

Why so, I wonder? Why not sulks and resentment? After all, proper discipline bare bottom spankings over Mum's knee are very painful affairs.

My own mother always says I was her best friend after she'd tanned my backside, even when in my later teens. Perhaps it was because I felt forgiven after the spanking, and I certainly felt contrite and wanted to please Mum.

Is this a peculiarly mother/son thing, or is it the same for girls and their Moms? Perhaps you don't see evidence of this phenomenon after soundly spanking the bare bottom of one of your boys?
