I think your 14yo son feels the same way as many boys his age still being spanked by Mum or Dad. Bending over Mom's knee does seem a childish act to the teenage boy, and your threat - "You aren't too big to go over my knee." - will only make the boy blush more. That in-between age when he thinks he's a man and you know he is still a boy.
