The subject is always a controversial one. I agree, there will always be those that will cry abuse at any sign of marking besides a well reddened bottom. However, I am not one of them.

When I give a standard spanking, most here know that I am one that always spanks both long and hard. Their bottom, as well as their thighs, are usually in that apple to maroon red when I am finished. In using my spoon or brush (neither are light or small), they do leave their own type of marks, as well. Even for standard spankings. They are not a lot, but in using a solid, wooden implement (which both are) while giving a good, hard and long spanking, it is going to leave some marking.

I can't say I 'welcome them', but it's not something I have an issue with and I do feel they are good, sound reminders for children for at least a few days.

And when more serious spankings are needed, of course the spankings are more serious, as well. I am a mom that does not have an issue blistering a bottom if needed. It's been rare comparatively with the amount of times I've spanked over the years, but it has happened.

Last summer my granddaughter and a girl I was babysitting (both 12) ran away from our vacation house and the entire family was looking all over for them. Thank God they were ok...at least until we got back home. I took them both back to the house and blistered both of their bare bottoms...literally.
