Obviously not all spankings are the same. They vary in intensity depending on the wrongdoing, and the child’s age, and the parent’s personal perspective on what constitutes a proper spanking. While there are always exceptions to the rule, a five year old isn’t generally spanked as hard as a ten year old, and a ten year old isn’t spanked as hard as a fifteen year old. As kids get older, Mom may increase the severity-potential of what she uses to spank with. Kids five years old and younger might be hand-spanked. Five to eight might be the wooden spoon. Anything after eight might be the wooden hairbrush, or a leather belt, or a lacquered wooden paddle, all of which have their own unique effects on a child’s bare bottom.

Depending on why, how, when, where, how long, how hard, what for, who with, it seems that, at the end of a spanking, the color of a child’s bare rear end could end up being pink, red, ripe tomato red, scarlet, beet red, and if needed a bit bruised.

The other day, when I was finished spanking my step-kids, Bailey and Levi, their bare butts were tomato red at the very least, if not maroon. I think that tomato red to maroon will be the minimum color I will aim for in future spankings. Future spankings, depending on what they are for, could go so far as leaving violet spoon or brush bruises that could take a few days to fade.

Some parents feel that leaving marks of any kind on a child’s bare bottom is an indication of abuse, while others welcome such long-lasting reminders. The notion of leaving spoon bruises, or hairbrush bruises makes some moms want to call child services, while other moms have no worries whatsoever.

What color do you aim for? And if there are varying levels of spanking-intensity depending on the numerous variables, what are the potential options.
