Synthis was now at a complete loss. How was she supposed to talk without signs??? Her voice never worked, and never would. If this sharding greenrider couldn't understand her, how could they get her outlook of the situation...?

Synthis just looked at M'att hopelessly for a moment, then turned to Xiualith.

'Baby, it's an emergency, so...?'

{Little one, you can use my voice anytime.}

Synthis, feeling it was her fault that Xiua had even mentioned the word rape--if she hadn't come to talk about this, it never would have happened--turned to Lily, and had the probably calmest dragon in the room speak.

{You are M'att's sister, are you not?} They said, making sure that not only Lily but M'att and J'xom could hear. {Could you really believe he'd hurt me? I can't. He's the most wonderful person I've ever met. He's the only person I've talked to in just about all my life, and I'm glad he's the one that knows to sign. Look, we were talking about... somone else. M'att was indeed comforting me. Just please, don't believe it was him...}

To Synthis's surprise, she was still crying. She had no idea if that made her look sincere or confused, but at least Xiua's words were spoken calmly. Inside, Synthis felt the worst feeling of all.

These people knew M'att, possibly better than she ever would. If they could believe him capable of this kind of thing...

No. It had to be a mistake. Perhaps Lily was just stressed, and not in the right mind to realize her twin would never do such a thing. Or maybe they were separated through most of their life, and she didn't know him like she thought she did.

But the possibility was still there.

{Little one, I know you don't believe that. And nor do I. Shush, Syn, and do not worry. We will settle this calmly, even if we need to bring Lilith in here to make sure all sides are heard.}

'Thanks, love. Truth be told, I'm a bit afraid they'll think he threatened me to say that.'

{I thought we sounded sincere.}

'I hope so.'

Synthis didn't know what to do. She felt like she was going to burst out into large sobs, but couldn't. It was as though something--a wher or feline or wherrie, perhaps--was trapped inside her, adn was scratching and roaring and all sorts of things to get out. If she didn't stop it soon, this feeling would probably kill her. Of course, that probably wasn't true, but what did Synthis care right then? At the moment, all she could want was to lean against M'att, have him support her like he had in the BOwl, only without the memories of before.

Strange thing, memories. She still hadn't told him all that was haunting her, and at this rate, she proabably never would.
