So I looked through the schools handbook and think I found a loophole although it will require some deliberate school rule breaking. It basically says the uniform is for plain black shoes with black or navy socks or tights. Those that arrive at school with non regulation footwear will be expected to spend the day without any shoes.

I asked my two if they would like to be barefoot in school and I got a cheer Yeah! So after the summer holidays we will try again to have them barefoot in school.
