Hi Steff, interesting answers your boys gave.
So your eldest son would wear socks when it freezes, but the youngest will still go barefoot?

I asked some additional questions as suggested and added a few more; again I'll summarize the answers of all:

Q: Your best memories?
A: Fresh snow felt fantastic! Splashing in puddles when it rains. And great events like the wedding recently.

Q: Your favourite barefoot activities?
A: Climbing trees. Doing just about anything outside, walking, running, playing in the park. Should maybe start rock climbing.

Q: Your advice to other children?
A: Try it out for yourself, don't let anybody tell you it's too cold, too hot, too dirty or dangerous. Not even mum and dad. A lot of things are much more fun barefoot.
(My oldest daughter added) Bare feet can be part of a lot of cool styles, try some out for yourself!

Q: Your advice to parents?
A: They worry all the time about what might happen. Stop worrying! Dirt doesn't hurt and if kids can't go barefoot they miss a lot of great experiences!

Q: Should parents go barefoot with their children?
A: That would certainly be more fun for the parents too, also it helps little kids. Once the children are good at walking barefoot ... well it's up to the parents; if they like it, good for them!

Both of us parents love those enthusiastic answers, we're definitely going to come up with more activities to do together and we might actually extend family barefooting into winter this year, let's see how the winter will be, it's not always fabulous soft snow. For our children walking barefoot is just normal everyday life, so pretty much all of their experiences and memories are barefoot.
