Anita, it's wonderful to read how much fun your kids are having in the snow!
My little Rita, still less than two years old, is now running around steadily on her little bare feet and refusing to wear socks even when it's frosty. As I wrote earlier I noticed her preference and decided that she shouldn't get used to footwear. She is walking barefoot at home, in the garden, on gravel, city streets, pavement, asphalt and everywhere with no problem, I warn her of any dangerous debris but she's already developing a good sense for that. Her endurance is getting better, though I still take a stroller along or carry her on my shoulders or in a baby sling when she's tired. When it's cold outside I like to gently rub her bare feet to stimulate circulation further and I can feel how strongly she's developing.
When we get snow I definitely plan to introduce her to it, after a hot bath when she's all warm, a minute or two ... It would be so lovely if she could make it barefoot through the winter. I take wool socks along that she could put on outside but she obviously prefers it all bare, and her feet are in perfect condition, so lovely and cute as they peek out under padded pants and legwarmers taking a healthy shade of reddish-pink when we're outside.
