Hi Anita!

Indeed, I have heard that in the northern hemisphere the barefoot lifestyle is much less present than in the southern hemisphere.
Here in South Africa, it is really not uncommon to see barefoot children and even several parents or adults.
It is a practice that has continued for generations.
It must also be said that here, the weather is perhaps more favorable during the year for being barefoot, although I see that your children are courageous to brave the negative temperatures.
Besides, I congratulate them, they must continue.

Here, children can be barefoot throughout the elementary school period.
They are barefoot all the time. Whether in class or outside.
It is then rarer to see older children barefoot even if it happens. This is also the case during physical deduction courses.
The uniform, on the other hand, is obligatory depending on the establishment. I have shorts and a polo shirt.
Some country schools do not have one.
To answer your question my children are not the only ones who are barefoot. Other children are too. (About half the class).
It happens that some students wear socks but I find that a shame since, as you said, they generally end up getting dirty.

It’s definitely practical to be able to find the left or right socks :)
