Hi all ...
My girl occasionally does play in the mud and is fascinated of all the things she can feel with her feet! So I think those opportunities get her feet the dirtiest, though it's all easily washed off. Tree sap is a bit more sticky and requires some scrubbing. And when we're in town, I noticed her arches haven't fully formed yet at two and a half years so her soles get blackened all over, which is cute in its own way!
I think there's nothing wrong when children aren't overly afraid of the dirt, as long as they also learn to wash their hands before they eat or touch their mouth ... whatever sticks to your feet doesn't affect your health.
