Bah, I couldn't find any evidense for my theory.

However, I find it very suspicious that a single 4k refresh rate 128mb dimm would be recognized as 64mb. I have seen no evidense of this, and suspect it was an incorrect assumption by a person with two of them installed, or a rumor seeded by this assumption. Memory bounds are generally dictated by the addressable limit of the controller across all memory banks- which in previous eras has commonly been ~128mb (try to get four 64mb simms to be wholly recognized in a 7100). Also, I can't imagine a faster refresh rating would be to blame- that's comparable to a 10-ton crane that can lift ten tons, but not five.

Incidentally, I have a 128mb 5V 4k EDO DIMM on order, so I can come to a definitive answer
