Subject: power supply with PCC(Alchemy)
In reply to: kev tones 's message, "Re: x400 or 6360 board in a PowerCC" on 14:33:46 07/25/01 Wed

This post may have a gap with the purpose of this thread ...
==================
I read a few unsuccessful reports on CC(Alchemy).
It seems that most of them are concerned with power supply.

((1)) failure in supplying 3.3V
In this case, if you change your Alchemy to Gazell, CC may boot up.
(If you have Gazelle.)
Please read the next post (archived here).
Re: Adding additional power supply?? -- John Stocker, 16:18:44 04/10/01 Tue

Lacking?
Shortage capacity?
Lower or Higher voltage than 3.3V?

And I want to show the next page again.
Many important things are implied in the next page.
http://homepage.mac.com/wtnb/33v.html

((2)) shortage of whole power
Please see the bottom of the next page.
http://member.nifty.ne.jp/frogeye/takky.html#Problems
In this case, if you supply power to HDD from external, CC may boot up.

Power supply capacity by original CC is limited.
To get not only boot-up capability but stability, I reccomend additional power supply.

((3)) failure in creating -10V
Please see the next page.
http://member.nifty.ne.jp/frogeye/takky.html#AnalogBoard

((0)) failure in attaching flat cables
this is not power supply issue
but this OFTEN becomes the cause of failure or instability
very OFTEN
be careful

===============
It is needed first to find the bad point.
When you change something, is there a change in result or not?
Good luck!
