I can confidently say that Derek's message won't be deleted.

It will, however, be responsed to in a fairly succinct manner.

READ THE FINE FORUM BEFORE FLAMING!

There are innumerable threads on here which conclude that you don't need a 3.3v line for x500 boards.

The header to the forum points user to many sites, including mine, which I would humbly suggest is the most comprehensive resource on the PowerCC in the English language. In there, you will find these words:

"So, I was left with the situation that x200 boards and x500 boards were fine, but x400 boards were not. Why? We then found out that x500 boards produce a 3.3v supply on-board for their own needs, whereas x400 boards do not. Hence the 5500 boards, despite having a PCI architecture which use a 3.3v supply, work fine. "

I also state that I've never used an extra PSU on my CC.

So, don't get mad at what you've read, get mad at yourself for not reading things carefully.

I admit that Takky says that 3.3v lines are essential - but many many postings to this Forum published since the Takky site was last updated, correct that misinformation.

Stuart.
