Thanks for your responses Stuart and Chris. Current update: CC still seems quite happy running at 115mhz (well, 114.somethingorother actually Chris ;-)) using the 19mhz osc with the back off. I haven't put the cover back on yet since I'm still playing, but I suppose I'd better take a deep breath and do it - luckily, it's winter here!

Stuart, I'm not too worried about possible stress or reduced life on the PowerCard, because as I'm sure you know from other reports, it's performance is nothing to write home about anyway - I get snappier response out of the 040 on the chipped LC575 logic board in any case. So if the whole thing blows up, I won't be too upset. But I've done a lot of chipping to my CCs and LCs and haven't lost one yet!

Chris, the PowerCard does indeed have a large finned heat sink - although it is a large custom shaped thing that covers half the board! As you suggest, I'll start with a fan and see how it goes - hopefully this won't make the whole thing too noisy! Hopefully a fan will do - I'm not too keen about introducing a possible source of moisture in there, and from what you say a Peltier will.

Anyway, I'll keep you informed of progress. Thanks.

Jeffrey G
