Bingo, thanks a lot, I should have thought of all that. Ive been doing work arounds like that for years and just went blank with this project.

I do have a zip drive and do have plenty of printer and/or Appletalk connectors (too many in fact), but I think installing onto the zip and than copying that system folder back over to the boot drive and renaming the original system folder to something else is the easiest. I'll try it this monday, I cant wait to get this CC up and running with this 1 gig drive.

I wish I had another 575 MB to expirement with the soldering hack to be able to use OS 8.1. I'm just afraid I would mess up my only 575 board if I try it. We'll see.
