for the time being... -- STAGAL, 08:59:59 02/28/03 Fri
It's not about unequal treatment, it's about playing before 200 or fewer people in an arena meant for 9K. It's about avoiding embarassment. Have you ever attended such games there? When/if the women improve and begin to draw larger crowds, or are playing a major opponent/weekend doubleheader, then they could move game to Bpt.

The logical pursuit is to allow the "market forces" to prevail. Regretably, we are in a politically correct environment which harms all, especially the women, who they blindly presume to speak for.

One of the bigger women's fans here is fine w/most @Alumni, some @Arena -- Menzies, 20:24:34 02/28/03 Fri
I probably one of the bigger women's team fans on this board. I am fine with most women's games at Alumni Hall and some at the Arena.
As a fan, the Arena is not enticing. The only real advantage is that you can have a beer. Its expensive and cold. The atmosphere, even for the men, is not there yet (ever?). Expensive, lousy food served by incompetents. Its a nice new facility that on the face of it evidently impresses recruits. Are they really impressed when it is 1/4 filled? Wouldn't the recruits start to realize the potential of the Arena isn't happening.

Re: Women should make the RIGHT decision -- Sobro, 09:01:17 02/28/03 Fri
It would be an easier decision were the university to upgrade the facility. You don't have to gut it, but Alumni Hall needs some serious work.

Re: Unequal Treatment? -- SonofDoc, 09:38:04 02/28/03 Fri
The women have the same right as men to play games in a location conducive to the development and success of their program.
Is Harbor yards that place, or Alumni hall, or somewhere else ? If Harbor Yards is a place they feel uncomfortable and cannot draw fans in to watch them, maybe it isn't the place.
Why does it have to be a matter of "rights" as opposed to what makes sense for the program ? If the law prevents this, then the law is flawed ?
