A 30 point loss to a team that is 301 in the NET rankings is not what I expected at all. The numbers look really rough but not that far off from last year’s successful team. Shooting 30% from 3 last year 28%. Last year caused 27.5 turnovers per game this year 25.8. Turnovers and lack of rebounding has been the downfall of this team that has yet to win a division 1 game. Turning the ball over 26.3 times per game. Last year was 19.5. They are getting out rebounded by 13.5 per game (last year was3.5). Schedule was crazy to begin the season but the MAAC is rated 27th of 32 conferences in the NET. Should at the very least be competitive in these games. Hoping for a win against another 300 level team Rider on Saturday

This team was not forecast to be in last place, that's for sure.

You'd never know that this is a D-1 program if you weren't already a fan. All the good that was attained up to, and through the Mihalich years has been lost to the past. Few people outside of NYS have even heard of Niagara. The old timers here in Florida , remember Calvin Murphy and some other Niagara greats and teams ; but other than those individuals, Niagara might as well be something other than an educational institution.

Almost everything is a secret or a mystery at NU, and not in a good way.

I am so blessed to have Michigan State University as my primary provider of athletics, and sports information. I don't say that out of animosity for Niagara, but out of the reality and truthfulness of my experiences with both Universities.

Niagara owes its' students, alum, fans and community so much more that what it provides to them. So sad for me to have to say that.

Niagara is so lucky to have guys like you sticking with the school and its' athletic programs. I have zero respect for fair weather fans. The main guys on this forum are the best of the best Niagara fans. You are with NU no matter record and info embargos that you have to put up with on a regular basis.

You know Eagle, tell us what happened to Siena's program that has a major facility available to them. Tell us why they went from the penthouse to the outhouse in the MAAC.

I'll bet you won't say a word. Your season tickets have Siena on them. Do tell...

I get it. You had great respect for JAM and the success he had at Niagara while your two board adversaries constantly complained because NU didn’t have a $13 million budget like Gonzaga. Niagara is in the same situation as every other Catholic school in the East with the exception of the 5 Big East schools. If the Niagara administration was incompetent then so were the administrators at about 40 other schools. Purp I think you were proven right on things - certainly JAM and also Niagara’s commitment- you used to argue about so why not let bygones be bygones? Would love to see more people posting on this board but people won’t come back if they are continually attacked. Heading to NU for the Marist game with my St Peter’s 5th and 6th grade team. Hoping there will be a good student showing. Can say there is no way we would be heading to Buffalo if NU was paying that exorbitant price to play their home games there

I agree to a certain extent that there are some Catholic and even some non-Catholic small and medium sized colleges and universities in the same straits as NU, however, there many that are not, eg, St. Bona, which is even smaller than Niagara. St. Thomas, MN, St. Mary's CA, Iona, Duquesne, St. Louis, LaSalle, etc., that are above the water financially, speaking.

When will Niagara return to the NCAA tournament or NIT ? Will it be in a few years, a decade, two decades ? Heck, I'd even settle for the CBI or CBIT.

I'm tired of seeing college programs that are in their infancy of NCAA D-1 hoops going to the Big Dance while Niagara goes nowhere.

Now NU can't even beat a Merrimack or an NJIT or a Mt. St. Mary's. When was the last time Niagara upset Syracuse (Colgate did it 2 years in a row) ? We are lucky to play the Bonnies once in awhile or St. John's every 5 years or so. I not only miss JAM, I miss the real excitement of Niagara basketball.

Siena and Iona no longer have the stability they had with their previous coaching staffs . Now the Pitino's , etc, are gone and the coaching carousel has found its way to Loudenville and New Rochelle. The MAAC is a lousy low major D-1 conference; and Niagara is what it is. There's no Taps, Frank, Calvin or JAM to revitalize its basketball program, as was the case in past eras. The fun and excitement is GONE, perhaps forever. You don't even hear Eagle Mike talking about a resurgence , like he did in the past. The writing is on the wall AND it has been for quite some time. AND even that writing has started to fade with time.
