This is why I really need to re-think posting here. I merely was pointing out that last year there was a more diverse group. BTW Mexico made top 5 in 2005 and she was short and Mexico was short last year and made top 10. However now that I see someone on this board refers to the "Anya disaster" I realise that even on this board we cannot be sure that our girls will not be insulted. As a team we put out loads of our own resources financial and otherwise to send the woman we think is best. When people make those sort of insensitive comments I realise that people only love the girl and respect our reps when they win or make it in to the top 15. Regardless of how well they work or how much they sacrifice if you don;t make 15 we can refer to you as a disaster. Now I am once again reminded why so many women are cautious about coming forward to represent. That is someone's daughter, sister, friend and you refer to her as a disaster after she gave up months of her life and 5 weeks in another country away from her family, job and life. SHAME ON YOU!!!

I remind everyone that we as a team work extremly hard and there are going to be years that we may not make it, regardless of how much we prepare and train. We are not over analysing we are merely looking at changes in patterns. Understand we have a limit of resources, our population is small, we do not believe in plastic surgery simply for the sake of making a top 5 or winning. A group of very competent judges made the decision to choose Anya and she did an amazing job, she is an incredible accomplished woman and was a joy to work with because she gave her all.

Please I urge you to be more careful with your comments on this board, many of the girls' families visit this board and even though we instruct that they do not visit message boards even this one, they still sneak and do it. I remember having to comfort many girls because of things said on this board, but I thought lately it was changing, we were growing and then I see that comment. You now give other posters full permission to pong up our girls. You think the Jamaicans will ever treat with their women like that and they have not made top 10 at Universe since 2004 and before that it was 99. We miss once, and you all turn on your own. Sometimes we can be our own worse enemies.

We however will continue to give of our best for our country its people and our true fans who are with us in good times and bad.

Adrian, no one was insulting Anya. Most of the critical comments made stems from obvious facts. I am a bit surprised at your response. You of all person should acknowlegede the misatkes. I think you yourself knew that Anya was not the best choice. The reference about"The Anya disaster" was not a direct statement toward Anya. But, rather the fact that she was not the Miss Universe type of beauty or who can win.

The world of beauty pageants always comes with compliments and criticism. Most of the regulars on this forum have been very supportive of all the Miss T&T's. We generally rally behind all the reps. But, people tend not to be critical most times because as I stated before we know the girls visit the forum and we want to maixmise their potential with out the criticism. This is the reason I waited until the end on the pageant to make my comments concerning Anya. If you look at all my post before the pageant you can see how supportive I was to Anya. I wanted her to do good. But, I knew she was not up there with alot of the other contestants.

I also made my comments because it was becoming obvious that the pageant company is straying from where they started.

You guys do work very hard and that in commended by all. I for one really appreciate it. No one ever said they did not like Anya or respected her. She is a wonderful person. Byt she just was not fit for Miss Universe. I really liked alot of past Miss T&T's that didnt make the top 15. Like Heidi and Alexia for example. So, I think its rather rude of you to just make a statment that is not true. I truly thought they should of made the cut in their respective years. But, they didnt.

No one turned on Miss T&T or anyone else. The facts was just being stated.

But, if you find any commecnt I made offensive then I take it back. And no one said anything about abandoning the paeagnt company. You guys have our full support always. But, I think the criticism are justified.
Anywa, I hope that you guys regroup and fix the wrongs. and you all have our full support. Anya did her best.

I understand what you are saying Adrian but u also must understand critism comes with the territory. so, obviously there is alot of disappointment so u will hear some critical comments. and a contestant as well as her family should kind of know this will come. this is why a young woman has to think about if she is strong enough to take both the good and the bad.
But I mean just take it all in stride, regroup and come back stronger than ever. You guys have dont great work. i mean our population is so small and often there isnt support from corporate tnt or the government...our girls are all natural. i mean you guys are amazing. but you cant be upset of people are expressing their views

...maybe you did not mean it the way Adrian (and some of us) interpreted your previous posts.

Personally, the only thing I want to do to Anya if I was there in Vietnam with her right now was give her a big bear hug and say "Thanks babes-you did a fantastic job and we are proud of you." The girl worked her you know what off and she must have felt so sad to not live up to the promise to make up for last year's non-attendance in the way she wanted to -by making the top 5.

She is one of the most dedicated MT&Ts we have ever had. Let's move on and give her time to heal as I am pretty sure she took this personally. I am so grateful that she had family there in Vietnam with her for the final.
