In reply to: PageantCritic 's message, "Extremely Disappointed" on Sunday, July 13, 10:53:14pm

I am really shocked at all the negativity toward Anya and the overly harsh comments. Pageant Critic, weren't you the one who said nothing about her should be changed for the finals and yet you now criticize her so harshly?

I had my problems with Anya which I always mentioned, namely her hair styling and her walk in swimsuit presentation with the weird way she just let her arms hang loosely from her body. I was also concerned about her rather muscular physique. Other than that I think Anya did a great job and was a good rep for our country. True she was short and I would have liked her to be taller but short girls have made the finals before.

Makeda or June would not have placed due to the plain fact that the competition was being held in Vietnam and Asians are known for not liking dark skinned girls (look at how beautiful Angola was omitted). After all is said and done, I think Anya did her best and she represented us well.

Next time P&A need to train the girls to walk better and please make sure they are not muscular.

Congratulations to Anya, she represented us well and from all accounts was well liked.

I have always been very supportive of Anya. if you read my other post you would understand why I didnt want to make any harsh or critical comments toward her. But, you guys did. I waited until the end of the competitiont o voice my concerns and give my opinions. I knew her faults and that she wasnt the best but I supported her to the last night. Everyone including you, Trini77 and some others had many negative commenst about Anya. But, I did not say not one bad thing conderning her until the competition was over. I stand by every thing I said and everyone knows what went wrong and what needs to be looked at and fixed.

OK Pageant Critic, you are not being entirely fair. As mentioned in my post above, those are the only criticisms I have made of Anya and I believe they are constructive criticisms, not bashing. I mentioned her hair, her walk and that she was too muscular. Those are facts as I see them and not overly negative.

I understand what you said about holding back but I think it is more beneficial to the delegates if constructive criticism is made before they compete, so that they can have a chance to review and make possible changes to their style and whatever else can be change, rather than to wait until after and then say all that you thin is wrong. I think that defeats the whole purpose. I understand you meant well by doing so but I just think it would have been fairer.

I firmly believe constructive criticism should be welcomed but I think some comments have gone over board. Anyway, you have been doing a great job here in the forum but I just thought you were a bit unfair now that MU is over and Anya did not place. I always think it is best to be frank upfront, even though the girls browse the forum I think it will help them rather than hurt once the criticisms are constructive, and in the end I think it will help team P&A to know what people think early on.

Anyway, I am not upset with you. We will all have different opinions at times and will not always agree.

well, lets just move on. Its in the past now. If you read what Adrian has said you wouls see why I had never made a tough criticism before. He said that he had to console girls on occassions after reading the forums. It may not have been a good idea to do such while the pagent was going on or before. So, I hope you understand why I didnt. But, as I said Anya did her best and I wish her the best in the future.

We look forward to MW and I do hope Gabrielle can make top 15.

...thank black women don't do well at MU when it is an Asian host. We could all pretend people don't have preferences but everyone knows that they favor Eurocentric beauty. If a panel is heaven laden with Asian judges (from Asia) they are going to appreciate the Beyonce look more than the Kenisha Thom or Wendy look. At least MW has judges that are not mostly Asians even if the host is from Asia.
