Subject: DD on Letterman; A missed opportunity.

Ok CBS, XFiles fans have been insulted. What was a golden opportunity for Letterman to interview DD about his new movie and the fate of the 8th season of the XFiles was instead an insulting and embarrassing experience. Letterman was obnoxious and rude. To DD's credit he was not insulting and rude back to Letterman.

DD entered with a joke that fell flat about the sandwich that had been in an earlier segment, BECAUSE THE HOST DID NOT PICK UP ON IT AND DO HIS JOB! And then when Letterman mentions the XFiles I was delighted thinking we were going to get some much wanted info about either season 8 or the eps by GA or DD, but NOOOOOO, instead Letterman asked again and again about David's lawsuit with FOX. At first DD tried to be diplomatic and even attempted humor about it, but Letterman persisted even after DD said he could not talk about the lawsuit.

DD tried to do his little prepared story about an elevator experience that could have been funny had the HOST been a HOST. After a very intruding interruption about the de-caf coffee Letterman drinks, (which by the way, Letterman - get over it! - alot of us drink decaf or none at all. I think he needs prune juice in his cup, personally, to get rid of his sh*t) DD seemed to lose steam and the story just fizzled out. I thought he gave up and that the story was probably funnier than we'll know now. Thanks, Letterman.

Finally the movie gets mentioned and we see a clip. Clearly Letterman was not interested.

DD was not on the couch after the commercial. I don't blame him. He had every reason to be upset with the interview. He had remarked it had been 3 years since he had visited Letterman. I bet it'll be more than that before he visits again.

I think we should all write or email Letterman's show, or the network, about retiring this guy NOW. I had read how insulting and rude Letterman had become with his guests, but he and DD are supposed to be friendly off camera, and in the past DD has been very entertaining on this show, so I didn't think it would happen with DD. Boy was I wrong.
