Like 2000 kilometres or something. I must ask around to see if anyone I know heard of it.

Don't you know the Tin Soldier, Detoured? Very sad. The Tin soldier had only one leg coz there wasn't enough tin to finish him off with. The other soldiers all teased him but he still stood straight and tall. One day he saw a pretty doll on the shelf and fell in love with her and she with him even though he only had one leg. She was a dancer with a lovely paper dress with a golden spangle on it. Then some how he fell out the window. [I think this is how it goes. It's been a while since I read it] A kid got him and made him a paper boat and sent him sailing down the gutter. He went into the sewer where rats frightened him but he stood straight and tall and brave in his little boat. Finally the boat fell to pieces and the soldier got eaten by a fish. Luckily the maid that lived in his house bought the fish at the markets and when she cut it open she found him. She put him up on the shelf with the pretty doll. Then a terrible gust of wind came and wooshed his beloved doll into the fire. The Tin Soldier was so mortified that he threw himself in after her. As the flames engulfed him he stood proud and tall. The next day the maid was cleaning out the grate and there she found a tarnished golden spangle and a lump of tin, melted into the shape of a heart.

Now cry

Stardoe reaching for the tissues.
