Subject: I think GA is, perhaps, just being realistic

The sad fact is, DD has a much better shot at becoming a "movie star" than she does. When I mentioned this over on the Scully board, someone seemed to think I was saying he was a better actor than she was, but I didn't mean that.
The facts are that he had an acting career prior to "XF" and has had the starring role in several movies. (Yes, some of them — like "Playing God" — got bad reviews. But others — like "Kalifornia" and the recent "Return to Me" — were fairly well received.) Also, the track record for men jumping from TV series' lead to major motion picture leads seems to better for men than it is for women. (I'm think of my two favorite shows of the 1980s, "Remington Steele" and "Moonlighting". The male leads of both these series — Pierce Brosnan and Bruce Willis — have made it big in movies. The female leads — Cybill Shepherd and Stephanie Zimbalist - never did.)
GA had absolutely *NO* acting career prior to "XF" and, other than the "X-Files Movie" has never had the lead role in a movie. I think she's probably just being realistic and facing the fact that she's never likely to get another role that will offer her the fame and financial security that playing Scully does.
