...Kande is standing, hands on hips, looking at the mess of papers on the floor. "Do you have any idea how long it took me to organize this mess? WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING???"

Detoured looks sheepish and digs her toe at the floor. "Sorry. I was just trying out my new jet pack." She turns to show Kande the sleek canister strapped to her back. "I ordered it from the International Superhero catalogue," she adds pointlessly.

"I suppose you're also responsible for the power outage." Kande, being the astute individual she is, puts two and two together.

"Yeah, well, ha ha!" stammers Det. "See, these controls are very sensitive..."

Kande cuts her off with a hand gesture. "Whatever. Are you aware, town superhero, that Rabid has gone missing?"

Detoured goes pale. "No! Nobody told me! I didn't get the alert on my superhero beacon." She looks down at the beeper attached to her utility belt. "Oops - I guess it got turned off when I flew through the bushes in the town square." She turns it on, only to discover she has 87 messages -- all about Rabid's mysterious disappearance.

"Well, it's too late for you to do anything now. My sister, god help us, is on the case. CW is following her around (can you believe she's going to use a hoe as a weapon?). The mayor and Scully are trying a different tack, while Stardoe is doing who knows what. So, since you're free, you can help me reorganize."

Detoured knows a lost cause when she sees one. She fires up her jet pack and edges toward the window. "Sorry - duty calls!" She opens the throttle and is thrust into the ceiling. After a few bumps, which loosen the tiles, she manages to crash through the other window, which wasn't open.

"Dammit!" steams Kande. "Who is going to clean this up?" She kicks a pile of papers. "BUBBA!!!"
