CW ignores her and steadfastly plods up the trail after the Mayor and Scully.

"Psssstt!" KS hisses at her from beneath a bush. "Get down! They might see you!"

CW puts her hands on her hips and turns to look at KS. At first she can't find her because KS has rubbed dirt and grass into her face and is so well camouflaged that even the mosquitos are ignoring her. Finally, she spots her blending into a tree trunk. "I thought you said they'd never in a million, zillion years look back and see us."

"Well they'd never think of doing that, of course, but you're making so much noise with those clodhoppers you're wearing..." KS complains. She climbs to the top of the tree and gets her bearings by looking at the stars. "I'd say they're about 3 kilometers ahead of us."

"Do you even know what a kilometer is?"

KS ignores her. This is what she always does when she doesn't know the answer to a question.

"Anyway," CW starts walking again, "My hiking boots aren't making that much noise. And I don't know why you're checking the stars for direction because you know darn well everyone in town uses this hiking trail." They pass a bathroom, drinking fountain and wooden bench. There's also a sign that points to the North that says 'This Way to Rabid's Abductors.'

KS stops and looks at the sign. She takes out a fingerprinting kit.

"Oh for Pete's sake!" CW is getting exasperated. "Let's just follow the sign, save everybody, and go to the Klub for rootbeer."

"I'm sure the Mayor put up this sign to throw us off their trail," KS informs her loftily.

"I thought you said they'd never think we were following them," CW says, crossing her arms. Before KS can answer, a scream is heard from the town below. Both cock their heads to listen.

"That sounded like Kande," CW looks worried.

"She probably burned herself trying to light a candle," KS tells her, looking at the darkened city far below them.
