...Rabid sits staring into space...the Klub is darkened...lit only by the blue flicker of the TV screen...all around Shipperville's Resident Voice of Scorn lay her fellow townspeople in various states of stupor. Some are merely sleeping at this late hour...many are drunk with rootbeer, or sorrow or the emotional event itself. KM and Stardoe, Kande and Bubba, CW and SMH, IG and Scullystar, JD and KS, Monica and BDM are all curled up like baby cats...

The Librarian/Skeptic/Vampire takes a small meditative sip from her glass. Then, in a soft voice she says "roll that tape again, please." Nothing happens. The Librarian repeats her request. Nothing continues to happen. Finally, Rabid looks around. Behind her, Mulder is seated in a curved booth in the far corner of the room, one arm loosely draped around the shoulders of the peacefully sleeping Agent Scully. Fox's head is pillowed against his beloved Dana's titian hair, the VCR remote has slipped from his sleep slackened grip and fallen to the floor.

Wearily, Rabid rises and crosses to the booth. She bends over to the retrieve the remote, but as her fingers close around it, the Klub doors swing open. A figure appears silloutteed in a bright white light which is spilling from some unknown source outside. A voice from the past speaks: "Let it go!"

Rabid blinks staring into the blinding brightness. She takes a hesitant step toward the almost familiar figure. Then she takes another...gradually her eyes adjust to the glare..."IOT?" she whispers.

The long-lost, indeterminently-gendered assistant to Shipperville's mayor steps forward. S/He is smiling...nodding...his/her kilt swinging gently as s/he enters the Klub s/he abandoned so long ago.

"Why do you need to see it again?" IOT asks, in a gently echoing voice.

"I still have questions," Rabid explains.

IOT turns a fond look on the sleeping Kenamom and an affectionate smile plays across his/her lips as s/he says, "Maybe that's how it's supposed to be!"

Rabid...who's life as a librarian is based on a the search for objective truth...verifiable facts...hard, referenced data...considers the Manifestation of Shipperville's crossdressing Deputy Mayor for a moment...and then she purposefully points the remote at the TV and presses the POWER OFF button. The Klub is plunged into complete darkness.

Rabid peers into the blackness. She can no longer sense the being...ghost...spirit guide that was just with her. Softly, she calls into the darkness..."IOT? Are you still out there?"

"I am," the beloved and departed Shippervillian's disembodied voice speaks from all around the Librarian, "and I will continue to be...as long as you continue to believe."

with a humble and serious tear in her eye...bows her head reverantly to the spirit of CC and Co.
