I think you're right that Brian's stubborn and willful nature wouldn't have allowed him to listen to others trying to help him. You can do and say as much as you can to help someone but ultimately it's up to that person to change and help themselves.

I've read and heard other people say that Brian was convinced that he would die young. I don't recall ever hearing him say he believed it would involve water - very strange. Drowning victims have said that once the water got into their systems they became peaceful and felt like they just drifted off to sleep. Hope that was Brian's experience.

You finished the book? What's the next step? Have you sent it off to a publisher? Will it be available as an e-book?
