Subject: Enough pain already!

I have!! All kidding asside, I've photoshopped all the pictures on my collages to erase those horrid signs of his pain that show up in all the pictures of him from 1965 on. It's just a personal preference of mine to not want to view his pain 40 years onward from his death. I don't feel he would have wanted that.

Those bags under his eyes were a sign of his alcoholism, and that's why they got worse and worse as his fortunes grew worse and worse and he drank more one more. In this series of photos he'd been drinking so heavily that his eyes looked like he'd been either not sleeping or crying. I feel he would never have wanted us to be constantly reminded of how much life was hurting him. Substance abuse was going to kill him early anyway, whether he'd drowned or not, but I don't think he realized it, or he would have stopped like he stopped the hard drugs.

All of that is just my opinion, you understand, and some of you will disagree, but my grandpa was an alcoholic and I know what it did to both him AND his eldest daughter, who was my mother!
