Happy New Years to everyone!!

I will not see this. Been doing some thinking on the Stones 50 yr anny and wondering out loud how come there is ZERO stories of Brian? After all he founded the Stones. Last time I checked we celebrate Columbus day here in the states because he discovered America etc... I know, poor analogy but YOU GET THE POINT. I went on to another thread on line somewhere regarding a YOU TUBE video where Charlie, Mick and Keith discuss Brian and how mean he was, what an asshole, couldn't handle fame, made everyone despise him ,not a nice guy to be around. So then I started reading the comments(regarding the video). Have to say they were pretty even in defending Brian and ditching the current Stones and vice-versa. I have decided to do a defense of Brian against the other Stones. This is going to be a long post and I hope I do not bore everyone with this... but I feel I have to get this out. In a way, it's kind of a editorial piece. To Mick, Keith and Charlie's YING here is Brian's YANG. Where to begin? The beginning of course!!

Mick and Keith see Brian (Dust My Broom-slide guitar) play for the first time and according to legend instantly put Brian on a higher plane then the rest of the kids playing Blues at their age. Brian tells them he is starting his own band. Stu shows up for the first rehearsal. Keith, claims that it was Stu who started the band and it was "Stu's baby". WRONG!! Get this Keith? Stu shows up to an ad placed by BRIAN. So this would make Brian the original founder of the band. Not Mick, Stu or anyone else who claims it was somebody else other than Brian. So the living Stones, 40 years after Brian's death, are still putting down Brian. They will not even recognize that it was Brian that put an ad in the paper and to try out for a R&B Band!!

Brian named the band as well... Keith makes it sound as if it was a spur of the moment decision (whatever Keith). Even if it was, the name of "The Greatest Rock N Roll Band" belongs to Brian. Sorry Mick and Keith, sh** happens!!

It was Brian who went out looking for the gigs, set up the rehearsals etc... Keith puts this down as well saying they didn't play any gigs and all they ever did was rehearse. Some truth to that but without practice the band would never have become famous. Practice makes perfect Keith!! He seems to forget that as well. Mick, meanwhile, was too busy trying to become a banker in college. As a point, I compare the Beatles playing all those gigs in Hamburg (small crowds etc...)that perfected their sound. They all recognized that without Hamburg maybe they never make it to the big time. The Stones never mention any of these "rehearsal sessions" as being a big difference maker. In essence, those rehearsal sessions were creating the foundation of what would become the Rolling Stones sound. Does Brian get any credit for this and believing (the only one saying this NOT MICK) that one day they would make it big? For anything that becomes big or famous one has to have a vision, or an idea before anything else can happen. Who's idea/vision was it? Brian's. Not Stu (please). If anything, this vision/belief, formed the first big piece of resentment between Mick/Keith and Brian once they DID make it big.

I will write more later. This is taking a long time!! Happy New Years once again. I haven't really gotten to the other sad moments (much worse in my opinion) yet between the Stones and Brian.

Look forward to the opinions!!

George
