I dont understand why this discussion keeps coming up. Brian left the Rolling Stones due to creative differences. He was not "fired", it was a mutual decision made the day the three band members came to Cotchford. Brian had not been pulling his weight in the band because he had ceased to care. If you had known him, you would know that once Brian lost interest in something, it was gone for him. Over. They found Mick Taylor as a possible replacement prior to the conversation they had a Cotchford because it was the only sound business decision they could make. And the Rolling Stones by then were a business. Mick is very business oriented. Brian had just stopped bothering. Yes, it was his Baby, but the Baby had grown up and he wanted to create a new baby that wouldnt grow away from him. Right after the Cotchford meeting, the papers all said Brian had quit. That was the decision they agreed to, to save face and not let it be seen that the founder had simply ceased to give a shit. I know because Brian told me what went down. And he wore that shiteating grin the entire time he told me. He was already moving on. The fired stories didnt come out until after his death, but by then I had left England so couldnt ask why they felt they had to say that, which I think was a bad move on the part of the Rolling Stones corporate team. Brian became the scapegoat for everything that was wrong with the band, and trust me, a lot was!
