Well personally I dont see time as being the one over-riding factor. OK I personally would not invest a lifetime in to developing "a ring of steel" and other such feats, but there are those out there who would given the opportunity and would enjoy doing it.

A different point on the same topic (I appologise in advance for talking about a group of people who are talked about and over glorified far too much by some) the Sholin Monks. Some of the things I have seen them and other Eastern performers do is increadibly impressive and make what would seem impossible to most seem within a wordly grasp, showing the potentials of the human body.

There may not be anything supernatural about what they do appart from long, hard and dedicated training but such achievements can be very inspirational to others.

Well after all if some old man can take a hard stick beating of 4 strong guys with no apparent injuries through proper conditioning, maybee in time I can condition my forearm to allow me to effectively and devestating utilize hard blocks without breaking my arm.

But as in all things a touch of realism is required, if for instance I tried to crack a walnut on my head with a hammer tomorrow (minus the years of conditioning) I would end up in A+E.
