Lance smiled and pulled out a sheet of paper detailing the apartment complex and the surounding areas. "They woudn't be traps if you could see them now would they. Though I wouldn't lean too hard against that window, there's one there too."
Lance chuckled as Zara stepped away from the window and looked at the drawing he handed her. It looked like it was drawn by a seven year old. Lance scratched his head, "I was in a rush okay. Anyway I based the whole defense of this area on an old Pre-gate movie a friend of mine had. You might know him, he collects all that old earth junk. It was some movie called Home By Myself or something. Anyway, some kid set up all these boobie traps for some goonies trying to get into his house. Well since I'm smarter than some kid, and our adversaries are much smarter than some goonies, I've decided to do a bit more."
Lance smiled as he thought about all the devises he scattered around. Most of which didn't act or look like traps. They looked like normal everyday things. Which reminded him, "Oh hey, check this out for instance."
Lance stepped into the kitchen and pointed to the toaster. It looked just like any other toaster and Zara told him so. Lance just grined, "Actually it's my automatic toaster. It toasts the bread whenever you ask it to. Well, I kinda had a problem with the heating elements and it kinda explodes when you use it. The good news is, that the activation sensor works just fine. Just say the key word and it'll go off. Fun right?"
Lance smiled in spite of everything. "Besides, if they're already nearby, there's nothing left but to try and help. Don't worry about me," Lance reached into the closet and pulled out a vacum cleaner. "I'm armed and ready to fight!"
