"TAKE HIM DOWN"

To understand military manuevers one must first understand various precepts that are tactically used. The idea that merely firing a weapon at an enemy is the end-all and be-all of military actions is vastly misinformed. The fact of the matter is that military tactics depends on key variables following other key variables. Suppression fire was first used to try to keep the enemy under cover while the Military Squadrons would move in and then take the enemy down at close range. The order was given to escalate their offense.

It was an understandable decision simply because one of those afore-mentioned basic precepts is to know the enemy and to know yourself.

The Military Squadron knew themselves very well. They knew the Security Personnel very well. The security team had, after all, been comprised of individuals who were once part of Rugby Military. So motions would be fluid and well timed based on years of training and experience. The problem lay in the Enemy.

The Enemy was an unknown. The Enemy posed a threat. The Enemy was not reacting to their projectile weapons.

So then, when the Military noticed that suppression fire wasn't working and that there were actions being performed by the Enemy which they did not understand, they escalated their tactics to "Extreme Prejudice". No-holds barred. No pulling punches. This was to take down the Enemy at all costs.

The black figure ran towards them, projectiles sinking into it's armor and being spewed uselessly to the ground. Laser rifles carefully aimed at him would send out a charge and at the last moments the beam would dissipitate into non-existance. An announcement was emanating from the black ship but it was being being drowned out by the gunfire and it only added to the confusion of the situation.

Several of the soldiers reached to their sides and activated a small thermonuclear grenade.

Another understandable decision. The soldiers knew Rugby and that Rugby would take care of Himself. The soldiers understood the grenade and the fact that the thermonuclear device would wipe out organic flesh in a small radius and that all individuals (except the woman by the crates) were behind that black wall that the Enemy had formed. The soldiers also understood that radiation suppression was no problem for Rugby. They also counted on the electromagnetic pulse that would first spread out before the subatomic explosion to take out the black ship and the armour of the individual persistantly coming towards them, dodging, flipping and now simply runnning at a mad-dash.

But the soldiers did not plan to use the device, it was a threat and a threat that any known Enemy would have reacted to and desisted of his actions.

Once again, they knew themselves but they did not know this enemy.
