Author: Dr. Deborah Reed
Subject: "Ali! We were worried sick about you!"
In reply to: CO Steele 's message, "He walked next to the Doctor as the Perp led them to the strange craft." on 19:25:19 07/23/01 Mon

Deb clutched the little girl tightly, tears of joy streaming down her cheeks.

"Please, PLEASE, don't ever run off like that AGAIN! Thank God you aren't hurt! Molly was so upset! You don't know this....man; you shouldn't have gone off with him!

And you--!
Deb stood now, a dangerous gleam in her eye, as she moved Ali around behind her, pushing her closer to Steele and stepping forward to stand between them and the 1ne. "You blasted well better have some answers! What do you want from us? You've done some amazing things, and probably saved us all, but we would never have BEEN in that situation if we didn't think this girl was in danger! Start talking now...or face my wrath!"

It was a tone of voice neither Steele nor Ali were used to hearing in the gentle doctor, who had saved so many lives in the course of her medical career. But both McCormicks had lost their lives and, as far as Deb knew, nearly Ali herself. She seemed fine, but may not understand the gravity of her situation.

Deb was like a lioness protecting her cub, and until the 1ne did more to gain her trust, her temper was borderline explosive...

"She doesn't give a moment's thought to herself, or her safety...
yet I knopw she cares if she lives or dies.
She's a hero through and through..."
-Batgirl, describing Supergirl in Crisis on Infinite Earths #4, 1985
