[> It would be helpful to know age and level of dancer and what your looking for in a school. -- More, 04:58:30 03/02/26 Mon (syn-174-102-145-195.res.spectrum.com/174.102.145.195)

Also ask your current teacher where they’d recommend.
Be aware of who is teaching the classes, and do your research.
Agree Beglan and McNamara McCarthy are good choices.

Honestly, you can't go wrong. I'd try any of them. Kinsella, Glencastle, Trinity, Beglan....
depends on what you are looking for. I'd call/reach out and just see if you could try one class before you commit. You'll get a chance to sit in the waiting room, view the culture, and your child can see about the teacher. If that's an option I'd look into it. All the kids feis together so they make friends across the schools.

[> Such amazing choices in Milwaukee! (more inside) -- No name, 13:54:41 03/10/26 Tue (NoHost/216.125.24.198)

Many great choices and it does depend on what you are looking for... Here are my thoughts:
1. Beglan-family run school, taught by teachers, great performance and competition opportunities.

2. McNamara-McCarthy-Taught by the owners (sisters) who care about each kid. Great history of competition in the teams arena.

3. Glencastle- Great history and the gold standar in Milwaukee. Family school, great shows, good competition.

4. Beglan - newer competitive school, taught by owner.

5. Kinsella- long history in Milwaukee, great shows, really nice family run place.

6. Trinity - more of a Chicago school, has some fun show opportunity with travel for less competitive teens, shows are good, most classes taught by older dancers. expensive

7. Cashel - smaller long term school used to be called Cashel Dennehy when Dennehy came up from Chicago. Solid.

[> Rod Vick's books based on studios in that area? -- Brew Crew, 11:10:22 03/11/26 Wed (d-23-244-51-237.oh.cpe.breezeline.net/23.244.51.237)

I love Rod's books and he paints a picture of dance culture in that area (I don't live in WI though), and I'd not be surprised to see some of the fictional locations (Golden Academy and Trean Gaoth Academy) based on real schools in the area. It seems that region has a ton of schools. Reminiscent of other areas in the U.S.

To me ID seems to be concentrated in key cities like Milwaukee, Chicago, Columbus, and a few on the East Coast. It's really a regional sport...
