Casting his eyes over the unfamiliar readouts, Muldoon quickly put together a picture of what was happening around the ship. As he drew his conclusions a weight seemed to settle on his heart.

"Captain, we're still moving. FawnDoo and the others have managed to stop our rotation, but they can't generate enough thrust to bring us to a halt." Muldoon looked Magnum in the eye, hating what he had to say next. "We're still on a collision course for the memorial and Rugby."

It was then that Muldoon remembered the warning from the still-damaged computer systems. Something about venting?

Of course.........the energon plasma exhausts!

"Of course, there is another option."

Magnum gave a very brief smile. "I thought there might be, Chief. Shoot."

Muldoon started tapping controls, calling up technical schematics. "If we vent the exhaust tanks for the energon plasma, it could provide enough of a counterthrust to bring us to a halt........at the very least, it'll slow us down long enough to get the real thrusters back on-line." As he spoke, Muldoon routed a simulation of the manoeuvre to Magnum's screen.

"Risky........those ships out there would have to get clear. If their engines came into contact with the plasma exhaust, the whole thing would go up like a supernova." the Captain was clearly intrigued, however.

Muldoon looked at another display. "Six minutes to collision, Captain. Permission to proceed?"
