GODORT Affiliates Program:
Purpose of Affiliates Program:
* To strengthen the documents community by providing the means for communication between local, state and regional Government Documents groups and GODORT.
* To support professional development / continuing education of librarians by performing a clearinghouse function on training opportunities provided by local and national organizations.
* To facilitate networking of all librarians involved in providing access to government information by communicating information on meetings and conferences held by local and national organizations.
* To facilitate access to information of use to Government Documents Librarians. This would include information on meetings, conferences and other professional growth opportunities, in addition to recommended action in legislation and access to the collected expertise of the entire community in the form of tutorials and other information linked to from the GODORT website.
* To strengthen the network for the exchange of information on the access and use of government information. GODORT to Affiliates and Affiliates to GODORT.
* To disseminate educational information oriented to those working with government information. GODORT to Affiliates and Affiliates to GODORT.
* To increase the visibility (and therefore facilitate communication)of Government Information librarians to allow them to network more effectively.
*To facilitate participation in the documents community by librarians interested in local, state, federal, or foreign government issues.
