• She resisted the urge to offer him help for what felt like the millionth time as she unlocked the apartment she had been calling home for the last month and a half - it was undeniably where she had been living - she wasn't exactly the tidiest person and there were personal touches of hers all over the place. She hoisted the car seat carrier that Aaron was dozing in up her hip and closed the door behind him as he made his way in. "I'll just put him down to bed, okay? And then I'll be right back out." • He was a little too proud and independant to have her help him too much- physically at least- he appreciated everything she did with Aaron- he'd be lost without her. "Alright.." He watched her leave the room before smirking a little, taking in all her little touches around the apartment- he liked it... it made the place look more homely. • She came out of the nursury where she'd put the baby down like a pro - things she perfected with practice over the weeks that he was gone, and found Duke with his head shoved in Andre's lap, looking for attention. "He was very disappointed that he didn't get to come and visit you in the hospital with Aaron and I." She grinned a little bit and shooed the large dog away from the wheelchair and gave him a push farther into the room before remembering herself - she knew from his independance that he wouldn't be losing any sleep over her not offering to push his wheelchair around. Finally she plopped herself down on the couch in the living room, sticking her feet up on the coffee table in front of it and sighing. "It seems like it's been forever since you've been here. • Andre rolled himself over tot he couch and used his strong arms to transfere himself over. He hated the chair with a passion and couldn;t wait to be on his crutches full time. "I'm glad I'm home too... I hated being locked up in there- couldn't even smell the ocean " Except for when she visited and hugged him and he spelt the fresh ocean smell in her long golden hair. He patted his lap to Duke to beckon him closer, his hands moving to stroke the large head that presented itself in his lap "And I missed this oaf too." Not to mention her and his son. • "I'm sorry - I tried to get you transferred to the Oceanside Hut Hospital but it was all full up of junkies like you." She grinned and then took the opportunity once he was on the couch to snuggle up a bit closer to him - a proximity that was awkward in the hospital. All she had really wanted to do all this time was wrap her arms around him and hold him and make sure he was really safe. She rubbed her hands over the stubbly blonde on top of his head, careful to avoid the scar that spread across his skull and then pressed a kiss to his cheek. • He kind of missed his shaggy long golden locks it had to be said- but he admitted that he didn;t look totally hideous with a shaved head- besides which his hair was beginning to grow back now- just slightly. "Sounds good... " He wouldn't be able to get too close to the water- he wouldnt be able to hobble the distance and pushing a chair in the soft sand would be impossible- but he could sit in the jeep and watch her. • She grinned a little bit, curling herself against his side comfortably and shifting a bit to get comfortable before she finally threw an arm across his chest to give him a squeeze, and closed her eyes. "I've been training some... maybe not as hard as summer, but it's the winter, I'm allowed to slack off." A soft smile filtered across her features and she let out a long, relieved sounding breath. • He let his arm come around her shoulders, tugging her into his body - which was still in good shape dispite his few weeks in a hospital bed- much longer though and it would start to digress slowly though- and coming back into competition fitness and strength would take a year at least. She had been very prudent when she had taken Aaron out in public to try and skirt away from some of the more rabid photographers - surfers had their own line of paparazzi that chased them down and some of it even leaked into the mainstream entertainment magazines. "I'm just so glad to have you back here, you have no idea. The place has seemed so empty and strange without you." Her hand dropped to rest on his flat abdomen easily and she straightened up a bit, looking him over - different, but all the same that mattered. • He watched her easily, quite content to just take in the sight of her and enjoy being here with her, in his own apartment with no fear of nurses comeing in and out of the room and disturbing them. "I know me too... I hated being aay from here... but I'm back now and I dont plan on going any where else any time soon." His aussie accent lilted his soft, tired words as his large fingers soothed through her silken gold hair. A smirk tugged at his lips as he saw her smile- it was infectious, he couldn;t help it. • She straightened up as he vowed that he wasn't going anywhere and lay a hand on one side of his jaw, turning his head to hers and catching his lips almost urgently. She got herself up on her knees, facing him and letting her fingers find the nape of his neck, stroking the short stubble there idly - she didn't care what he looked like - even if he had had grotesque injuries to his face and body that had mangled him - he had shown patience with her when she didn't deserve it and she was forever indebted to him. A lot of thought while he was in the hospital - with her sleeping in his bed without him there, and all of the other things that came with being in his house in his absence, had made her realize that she did love him - she wasn't sure what she would have done if he had died. • He helped her settle into his lap, his large hands curling around the backs of her thighs and keeping her securely in place, resting his head back against the couch as he returned her kisses, letting them linger. His eyes opened to her quickly at her words, and he let them sink in, watching her still. His hand reached to her face, cupping her cheek as his thumb brushed down from her lower lip down to the tip of her chin "I don't think i ever expected to hear you say that..." • It was a huge admission but she'd come to face the facts - she loved him and she couldn't imagine how stupid she had been making him wait all that time after he had come back from Australia with Aaron. She loved the little boy like he was her family, it only made sense to love his father too. But having it reaffirmed and spoken back to her was a great relief and a smile flitted across her face, one corner of her lips tucked between her teeth as her eyes searched his for a moment. "I never expected myself to feel that, to tell you the truth. It's just when you're alone and your only conversation partner is less than a year old, you get some time to think about the things that are important to you - especially when they're lying in a hospital bed having narrowly escaped death." He was by far the opposite- always playing things down and breezing over things, masking the seriousness. He had had plenty of time to think things through as well, lying in his hospital bed. • She pouted a moment and then stuck her tongue out at him. "Making fun of me isn't very nice. Remember I'm your caretaker for the next couple of weeks and I can make your life miserable." She shifted a bit in his lap to show him just what kind of miserable she was talking about, her hands coming to rest on his shoulders easily. He tried to downplay the whole accident, she knew, but the doctors had told her, a few inches to the left or right and he probably would have been a vegetable for the rest of his life, if not dead.
