Subject: Valvoline Engine Oil

Hi there,

I have a 92' Diamante LS and used to use Castrol GTX 10-30 without any problem. I changed to Valvoline 10-30 and put a new MITS oil filter 3 months ago. My D has run about 3500 miles and today the OIL light was on for few seconds. I found the oil level was much below MIN. I have added 1.5 qt Valvoline oil, but the oil level was still half inch below MIN. I will wait for an hour to check it again.

I have to go to work early tomorrow morning. So I will wait till Wednesday to change oil and filter.

I just drove a 350 miles trip last weekend. Will the low oil level damage the engine? During that long trip everything seemed fine, and my gas mileage was 24-26 mile/gallon. So at that time I still assumed my D was in good condition.

What can cause the fast oil consumption? My D doesn't seem smoking. I haven't found any oil leak on the park ground. I heard in this forum that our Diamantes are sensitive to engine oil, and it usually takes 1 oil change cycle for our Diamante to get used to it.

Please help me!

Thanks!

Mason
