Subject: OOC: Hey guys, I have returned. I'm a bit under the weather at the moment, so if this post seems a bit erratic, let me know and I'll try to explain better. I figure I better post something, or I might have more to worry about than a headache and a big test tomorrow. Any-who, the post is inside.
In reply to: Fate 's message, "The Swamp" on 12:24:47 10/21/04 Thu

As you travel into the Swamp, the murk swirling about your ankles soon grows to submerge your knees, and eventually finds you wading waist deep. Occasionally a rather deep hole catches the group by surprise, but since the large wolves travel in front they take the brunt of the blows. Some of the unlucky ones drip filthy water from their muzzles, and they definitely look unhappy about it. Revin appears to have the worst luck of all. At one point he slips and falls under completely. He stands back up immediately, but now he smells terrible and looks worse.

Chaos: (Hey, ol' chum, where are you?) Because of Revin's bad mood, he is in no mood to talk or be polite. He does do his job as a guide though. Every now and then he'll turn back to you and grunt out, ‘There's a small hole here. Not much for a great beast like myself, but it'd probably kill you.' and then gesture with his paw. It wasn't much in the way of affection, but it was of small comfort to know that he did not actively want you to die. It was the most you could probably expect.

Naverin: (It looks like you aren't the only one behind schedule. Don't worry about it too much, but if you have any really long lapses it would be nice to let me know.)Kal'nith seems quietly pleased with your question, ‘Yes, I have. I have seen the Sacred Lands, although the height of its beauty was before my time. I have been told about it by my elders, and so it has been passed on.' Kal'nith smiles, ‘You find me graceful? I am grateful for the compliment. I think we shall become good friends, and I would like to know much of you as well, human child.' Kal'nith continues, but it seems more to herself than for you to hear, ‘We have a while to travel before we reach the Demon's domain. I believe the only reason you are walking and not riding is so that you can become accustomed to the swamp's feel.' she was the only wolf, you notice, that has not slipped. Each paw is set down slowly and gently, and somehow it never finds holes. If anyone could navigate the Swamp, it was clearly Kal'nith. ‘I am a bit of an outcast, you may have noticed. Humans tend to rely on their eyes more than their noses, so you probably have seen that I am white-furred. It is a sign, I am told, of great things to come. It means that I am well respected, but also avoided.' her thoughts are tinged with melancholy, ‘They are afraid of me. Fenvir does not order me about like the rest of the pack, and I am never forced to do anything. I think it has spoiled me somewhat. I cannot defend myself or others very well. But that is alright.' she turns to look at you, ‘But I am afraid I do not understand. What is it you would like to know about me?

Kia: When you start to walk behind Lunae, Asriae cheerfully falls behind you. She splashes about a lot, and you find your backside very wet after a short time. You also notice that the ground you are walking on becomes thick with plants that weren't there before. It's like trying to walk through seaweed. One slip, one tangle, and you could drown. It's a very sobering thought. No one else seems to have noticed, though.

Terra: (You too, child. Haven't seen much of your signature lately. tsk, tsk!)
Brack is one of the more fortunate wolves, and his shiny black fur seems to still be nice and shiny black. He walks apart from the others, and gives you little choice but to follow. You still keep in eyesight, but unlike Fenvir and Talen, you are not side by side. It is probably because of this slight isolation that you are the first to notice a tingling sensation on your legs. It's as if something is rubbing against the skin lightly. It almost feels like fish scales, but the only species of fish that could survive in these waters is of the three-eyed twelve-finned variety, and probably not friendly. Brack seems to not notice at all. It really does feel like something brushing against you, not biting you. The only way to check would be to reach down and make sure, and that runs the risk of you slipping and falling in.

Lunae: Fenvir is careful to not allow you to get into danger. Every time he comes across any kind of hole he'll actually wrap his tail around you and carry you over it, setting you down on the other side. Other than these occasional lifts your current journey is relatively uneventful. You, like Kia, have noticed the thick vegetation underfoot.

Tiger: You are having trouble just keeping your head above the murk. You desperately pray not to slip into any holes because you know (with a deep, sinking feeling) that if you ever went under you would never come up. After some time, Fenvir slows and looks at you carefully. ‘Would you like a lift, brother? I could use another pair of eyes and ears at my level, to watch the skies. It might make things...a bit easier for one of your...height.'

Lialye: Talen is always the first to fall into a hole and the last to come out. He is easily the most pathetic pile of fur you have ever seen, and the only reason you aren't saying so aloud is the fact that he is still four times bigger than you and loaded with teeth. His fur is thickly matted with the goopy water, and he is doggedly keeping up with Fenvir. You have a pretty hard time keeping up, since Talen is terrible at warning you when there is hole in the ground beneath you. Still, there is safety in numbers, and you are traveling next to Kia, Lunae, Asriae, Talen, and Fenvir. It feels safer that way.

For those curious, I have organized the marching order as listed below, from left to right.

Naverin is traveling behind Kal'nith, who walks slightly apart and to the left of Revin. Revin (with Chaos trailing) is walking a fair distance (about 12 feet) to the left of the central party. The central party consists of Fenvir, Lunae, Kia, and Asriae, walking in that order and fairly close together. Talen is doing his best to keep up with Fenvir, and is walking just to the right of Lunae. Lialye is pretty much walking next to Asriae, although slightly ahead. Closer to Kia, if you prefer. Anyway, after that is Brack, who travels a very far distance away from the group, acting more as a scout than anything else. He is slightly behind Fenvir, and about 35 feet away from the central group.

Or, if description is not your thing:

---------------------------Fenvir--------Tiger-----------------
Kal'nith--Revin--------Lunae----Talen---------------------------Brack
Naverin--Chaos------Kia------------------------------------------Terra
----------------------------------------Lialye--------------------
---------------------------Asriae-----------------------------------

And now I shall go and get some well-deserved sleep.
