• ‘Lord Fenvir, I must object. Bringing humans here? This is sacrilege!' Revin (Chaos' guide) steps forward, and his thoughts are meant for everyone to hear, ‘We don't need them for this! We've never bowed to humans before, and we shouldn't now. We can still turn back!' Fenvir looks at him for a while before replying, ‘Stand down, Revin. This is not sacred ground anymore. Not like this. We've tried, but you know as well as I that we cannot touch—‘ he stops. Then he turns to look at all the humans, ‘My threats from before are still true. We have become desperate, and will claim Carnerik if we must. Humans, stay on our backs no longer. Stand on your own. But please, watch your step. The waters here deceive you. • Kia climbed off of Asriae and jumped down to the squishy ground. The wolves had said they shouldn't speak. This frustrated Kia. She had so many questions. • Lunae skillfully jumps down from Fenvir. Her boots sink slightly in the soft mud-like sludge. During the trip to the swamp, Lunae has been in deep thought. She does this often and by looking at her you can never be sure if she notices anything going on around her. Although she responded to Fenvir's command, she does not break her thoughtful gaze. • 'Alright, humans. We have passed through the cave, and we haven't angered the spirits. You may speak here, but speak softly.' • Lialye likewise dismounts from Talen's back, looking about with an expression of slight interest - as she has been for pretty much the entire journey. To tell the truth, she's a little unnerved by it all, but she'd never admit it. "Well. Interesting," she says softly, half to herself and half to Talen and anyone else who cared to hear. • Asriae shifts position excitedly, 'Oh, it's great fun. There's this thing, y'see, and he's guarding this...other thing, which can guide us to our thing.' whenever she thinks "thing," you get the slight impression of a snake, a leaf, and then some sort of globe, in that order. The thoughts seem vague and hazy, 'But I've never seen any of them. All I know is that the first thing,' again, some kind of snake, but this time it looks more like a crocodile, 'can detect our presence. Which is why we need you guys. Yeah!     • Asriae ponders for a moment, and her thoughts filter through. Images on tiny little worms and dragons bigger than the whole forest are included in her thoughts, 'To be honest, I've never seen it. But I've heard about it. • Asriae starts to answer, ‘Well, it's golden...and it can fly...or something. I confess, I haven't really seen that either. I've never seen the Sacred Lands before they became Swamp; I'm not old enough.' She seems like she wants to say more but she is interrupted by Fenvir, ‘Humans, please. Standing about will do nothing. Follow your guide through, and beware of the Demon. It sleeps underfoot, and will drag you under.' This time you are given a clear picture. It does look vaguely like a crocodile, but most of what you see is a small scaly log gliding across the surface. It would appear that no one in the pack had seen more than that. One thing was clear, though. That image stirs up great fear amongst the others. When Fenvir finishes speaking, every wolf starts out. • Lunae watches Fenvir and is prepared to follow him. This creature really seems to cause a great deal of fear among these creatures. Once again, out on something that could very well get me killed. I'll have to stay alert, that thing looked more log then any scary creature. I'll have to be prepared at all times, unfortunately this ground my cause problems with movement, Lunae thinks to herself. • Lunae turns her head slightly and smiles, "I've been through too many experiences like this to not be ready. Although I must admit that this is the most bizarre situation I've ever been in. Well, I guess that that one time could rival it.....but anyways, my name is Lunae," her gaze moves slowly across the group. "This is quite a big group here. I am surprised that so many people agreed to come along. It's good though, a bigger groups stands a much better chance of suriving than a smaller one does. Ah, this should be a piece of cake." Luane still smiling turns forward again. You can't tell whether or not she was being sarcastic with that last statement.   • With her back getting soaked her long blonde hair was soon soaked as well. She reached into a pocket and pulled out a leather strip. She twisted her hair up into a complicated bun so it would be out of the way. She didn't really mind Asriae's splashing though. Sooner or later the swamp would probably get deeper and her back would get wet anyway. Kia struggled to walk through the thick plant life that inhabited the bottom of the swamp. Due to the murky hue of the water it was impossible to tell what it was though. She started trying to lift her feet up when she walked (a bit like a march) instead of walking normally.     • The tiger's fur was plastered to it. His orange and black stripes were less appealing now and the only dry fur remained from about his eyes up. His lower face had dipped under several times. At Fenvir's question the tiger replied, "I would appreciate that brother. A slip at my level would indeed by dangerous." the tiger felt slightly that he would be inconvienicing (sp?) the alpha wolf but Fenvir had said another pair of ears and eyes would be useful.     • Kia finds that when she stomps through with higher steps, it becomes much easier to transverse the plants. However, some of the plants still seem to wrap around her legs, trying to hold her down. Kia can still break free, but it isn't always easy. In a few spots, Asriae looks concerned, ‘I'd offer you a lift, but I'm told that we are not allowed. Apparently it's easier for humans to see Demon if they are at his level, and we can't see him very well. Can humans really see demons? Is it true?' -- Fate, 12:01:41 11/04/04 Thu
      • Fenvir nods, and gathers the tiger gently in his coiling tail. He lifts him out of the swampy depths with a loud *squelch* and sets the muddy beast onto his back. From this height, it's amazing how far the tiger can see. Somehow the fog is clearer up here. The tiger can see everyone, a feat that was impossible down below. ‘Can you see ahead, brother?     • Kia continues to struggle with the plants and was going to answer when she heard one of the wolves splashing through the murky waters. She looked around and drew her sword out of habit "What's wrong?" She didn't really understand what was going on and remained where she was because she didn't know how she could help.   • Lialye steps as carefully as she can, mumbling incoherently under her breath. She would be boring a hole in Talen's back with her eyes, were it not that most of the time she was too busy trying to make sure she didn't end up in a hole and die. Which, she's fairly certain - due largely to her pessimistic approach to life - is what will eventually happen. Oh well. Nothing to do but go forward, right? And so she continues, doing her best to keep up and avoid the various holes Talen isn't warning her about, the dratted creature...not that she'd say so aloud, of course. She's mumbling incoherently.     • Eventually, the inevitable truly happens. Almost. One of the sudden drops Lialye slip into turns out to be far deeper than most humans. In fact, the hole is probably deeper than most elephants. Lialye slips under without a sound. A small undertow pulls against her, trying to suck her as deep as possible. A muffled voice in her mind calls out, ‘...Lialye? Human? Where did you go?'   • Chaos continues to make his way, listening to Revin carefully and always thanking him politely. "This seems almost relaxing, y'know." He walks with his sword (and a small bundle strapped to it) high overhead, keeping it out of the murk as long as possible. -- Chaos, 05:58:41 11/04/04 Thu

He walks around the hole that Revin points out, but still stares at the main group. He saw what was going on with Lialye, and saw her go under..."Lialye!" Chaos makes his way over.   • Terra walks closer to Brack, "Hey. Shouldn't we be closer to the others? It's dangerous (and stupid, she added silently) to walk alone." The scales had been bothering her.     • Brack shakes his mane, 'No. This way, we see more ground. If we are tight, we are easy to strike.' He then continues in silence. Terra stops and reaches down. At first, she feels nothing against her leg. After a moment something brushes against her finger in a glancing sweep. After a second longer, the sensation returns and remains. Some sort of small fish (no larger than her palm) seems to be swimming against her hand. One by one a small swarm arrives. After a few more seconds, Brack turns to look, ‘You stopped,' he narrows his eyes and looks at Terra carefully. Then he looks alarmed, ‘No! Get away!' he pounds towards Terra, creating small tidal waves. The fishes begin to bite, ripping tiny chunks of flesh away -very- quickly... -- Fate, 12:35:22 11/04/04 Thu
• At the sound of the wolf (Brack) running through the water Lunae turns to see what is going on. She can't really see what is happening, but since the wolf is sprinting through the water she guesses that it can't be good. "What's going on?!" She asks outloud to anyone who would care to answer. A small grip of panic tinges her voice as she tries to see what is going with Terra, who, given the circumstances, could be in danger. (NT) -- Lunae, 14:23:46 11/04/04 Thu
  • As soon as Terra felt the biting she knew something was very wrong. She didn't know how to fight fish. Turning to see Brack, she realized that he probably didn't know what to do either. Calmly turning towards the others she calls out, "Lunae! There are tiny fish attacking my hand!" She did not know how to ask for help, but she figured that Lunae would realize how much pain she was in. At the same time, Terra raises her hand from the water and examins the wounds. Whenever she feels a bite, she quickly punches downward at where the fish should be. (NT) -- Yumakami, 19:29:46 11/06/04 Sat
    • Yumakami flails about in an orderly manner, trying to strike her tormentors. It doesn't appear to be working. Brack gently bites the back of her shirt and lifts her out of the water. The water surface soon becomes a boiling chaos, with fish leaping out of the water in an attempt to bite Yumakami more. Terra is now bleeding badly from her hands. Brack walks over to the main group calmly, 'What is happening here?' he asks Talen. 'I think my human is drowning!' Brack sighs, 'I can't leave any of you alone for five minutes, can I?' He sets Yumakami down and watches the others. 'Those fish only attack when there are roots nearby. We should all avoid trees in future.' -- Fate, 17:24:34 11/09/04 Tue

• For just a split second Lialye is shocked. Where did everything suddenly go? Why couldn't she breathe, or feel anything apart from wet swamp all around - gaaah! The split second past, she instinctively begins to frantically struggle against the undertow. She tries not to panic, but when she hears Talen's muffled voice in her mind, she mentally screams out to him for help as she thrashes about in the water, too disoriented under the water to know which way could take her up, to the surface, to air, to /life/.... -- Lialye, 16:00:13 11/06/04 Sat
  • Talen's voice returns, "You -fell in-? You really fell in?!" the panic is obvious, 'Somebody help! I can't swim! Help, I'm gonna lose my human!" he turns to see the speeding Chaos, "Please, she fell here! Help her!" The murky waters continue to pull Lialye downward, and small flits of hard material slide past her now. • Naverin was about to ask more about "her" wolf but then she sees off to the right a great distrubance. She looks about for her good friend Lia who is nowhere to be found! "Lia!! Lia, where are you?" Where Lialye should have been, there was a great commotion from her wolf. Naverin turns to her wolf. "We must help her!"       • Kia splashed heedlessly through the water towards the spot where Lia had gone under. Luckily she missed the holes. She came to the spot where Lia disappeared and dove underneath the surface.       • "I'm coming Chaos!" Naverin turns toward Kal'nith, "Is there anything you can do to help? If I remember correctly, Lialye can hold her breath for about 2 minutes. She was floating...senseless...wrapped in a dark, wet world where nothing mattered...floating.... Then comes the sudden yank on her hair, hands grasping her...it's a long moment before her water-logged mind can process what's happening, that she's being rescued...distantly, she remembers her plight, and - almost as if her body wasn't hers - she began kicking her feet slowly, letting her rescuer pull her up and lending what little support she can, as a quiet corner of her mind is screaming at her to get to air /now/, before...   • Kia gasps for air as she reaches the surface. She pulls Lia up behind her and checks for a pulse while treading water. Kia was taking long gasping breaths. "Lets see if we can get to some place that I can try to revive her and give her medicine." As she says this, Naverin begins searching through her herbal bag on her side.   • OOC: Sorry you guys haven't had anything to do for a while. IC: Kia glanced around the swamp and (conveniently) saw a small boggy island not far away. "I can set her down over there," Kia said, already making her way there. Once she reached the small island she gingerly set Lia down then sat down herself.
