Author: Marithura & Marthur on Sarinor, flit flocks
Subject: A wave...and a ripple...
In reply to: Hollis {Sunitie} || Ralek \w. Taliae [& flits] 's message, "- Silent -" on 13:38:40 09/14/02 Sat

Thura gulped. She had a feeling she knew what the goldrider must be thinking...that she was nearing her time. The baby, unfortunately, seemed to be agreeing with her. From the size of her stomach, it was a logical assumption, but..."That's what I am afraid of...but I should still have two more months to go." She glanced down at herself wryly, trying to take the edge of panic out of her voice. "This must be a very large baby!"

Suddenly, she let out a gasp as a fresh wave of pain washed over her, much fiercer than those that had gone before. Still looking down at her stomach, she actually saw the ripple as her stomach hardened into what could only be a contraction. Instantly Marthur was on the ground beside her, holding her hand. The flits of both began whirling around, agitated. Thura sent a barking command to her queen to get them away and -quiet.- Her queen chirped at Marthur's, and the two herded the rest over to the other side of Sarinor and settled them down to wait. She glanced back at her brother to find him scrutinizing her closely, and the look in his eyes told her he knew.

It begins, my rider. The little one is coming. Sarinor curled his red muzzle around to touch her cheek.

"How do you know?! You're no healer!" she shot back at him, half-terrified now. She counted her breaths, trying to relax until it passed.

Sarinor knew this. I am your Linked. I feel what you feel. I know what is happening. I will help. Thura sighed, rubbing above his eye, where the ridge used to be. (ooc: forget whether they still have ridges, assuming not) she knew he would...he already was, and he had helped so much already. She had spent most of this pregnancy laying down resting, because whenever she walked around too much or overexerted herself, she had started cramping and...the rest. Sarinor had taken to allowing her brother to ride in her place, that the two of them might hunt for her and themselves, and also bring back what healing herbs Marthur could think of. Both had done all they could to help care for her these last few months, until it had become obvious that she would need more than they could provide. She had begun having several mild contractions a day...and there was nobody near their cave who could help. And so the group had ventured out to rejoin their kind, the few survivors from the Lost Planet. Now, Thura feared she had waited too long.

(ooc: according to the PernBeginning page, or whichever one it was, blue dragons stayed blue--unless their riders were female, in which case they turned red. I'm guessing not many female blueriders 'survived?')
