The article is titled, “Minimizing the Digital Divide and the Intergenerational Gap” from Technology and Learning Magazine located at http://www.techlearning.com.

It describes an ongoing program in Israel that aims to minimize the intergenerational gap and the digital divide. The project was initiated in 1998 and continues today. The program centers on elementary school children teaching computer and Internet skills to senior citizens and as a culminating project writing a “mini e-book” based on an event from the senior’s life. This part of the project includes searching the internet and scanning pictures.

The article also includes the program rationale, model, stages and assessment. Also excerpts from the e-books and participant comments can be read. It is a project that has evolved and changed over time.

I thought the project idea was a good one, and it could also be used as community service initiative. The article was a worthwhile read to see the stages a project goes through over time and what is learned as a result.
