Yeah, I keep going back and forth too. I just can't help but think this storyline would have been great with Darla esp. since she's so strongly tied to it. Just doesn't make any .... oh well. No, I haven't read that fic. Hm, I'm check it out! Thank you. :)

Honestly, I don't like the *way* the writers are going about this with the character based episodes. It's just kind of ... what's the word ... (and I hate to say this) but it just seems like sloppy planning. After character A has his/her episode, it's time for character B's turn, and thereafter character C's, etc. I wouldn't mind this pattern if the episodes didn't come one after another. Spread them out because now I've got a set pattern in my head that's predictable.

I don't like this though. It just seems sloppy to me. To me, I agree that season 2 had a good balance of character development within episodes that also contributed to the arc. I think one of the major set backs this season has been the lack of these episodes. It was cool to see Darla in episodes 1-2 because then we got a feel for the arc while still being engaged in a separate storyline. Thereafter it was like "what happened to the arc?" And then when Darla finally makes her appearance, she and the arc are barely the focus of the episode.

The pattern goes: Cordy-base ep,
>Gunn-based, Wesley-based, and we have an Angel-based
>ep to tide us over for the in-between sweeps period.
>Then sweeps comes around for february, we have an
>semi-climax on the Holtz/baby storyline. Run of
>character based eps again in the order I have shown
>above and then May sweeps, we get the conclusion of
>the Holtz/baby storyline.

Just too predictable though. :) That's the way I see things going also. I just wish for the days when the supporting characters got development in just plain old episodes, any episodes, not episodes relegated to "oh, this is my moment to shine. you step away now!" BtVS did this VERY well back in the days before season 4.

Gunn? He was full center in "That Old Gang of Mine" even though that episode dealt with another tired plot like Cordelia's visions. Thereafter though, where is he? He's either comedy's footstool ("Lullaby" with the head smacking) or he's barely there at all.

Fred? Back in Pylea, she was strong, outgoing in trying to reach Cordelia, help Angel, very smart (still is), and seemed to have confidence in herself. Upon her character basis in Pylea, I thought she'd be someone that'd be vigoriously out in the world checking up on what she missed, seeing her old friends from the library she was portal-sucked away from, and hanging out at the taco stand. But the Fred I see on ANGEL, hides under tables, can barely speak a word, puts Cordelia on some pedestal, when she does say something rambles like she doesn't realize when she's saying too many words all at once, and blah ....

Cordelia has gotten the most screentime, but her development like the others is lacking. She's all about the visions and being Miss Perfect. Give me some true pain and consequences!

What made me fall in love with the Angel character was seeing his struggles. Everyone experiences pain in this world and to see someone face that pain, live with it for so long, and most of the time not get any reward for his suffering made him very human to me. Since none of the characters ever really *suffer* anymore, well, I'm losing track of the point of the show and in that regard Goofy!Angel as well.

Thank you he's been missing so far, but all in all "living through the crap but dealing with it" plots have sort of weakened considerably for all of the characters. I guess that's why I liked Darla so much. She suffered considerably but she always popped back up and didn't whine or expect anyone's sympathy. Granted she's one side to all of this though.

Okay, I'm rambling here.

Wesley? At least his character's been consistent more than everyone else.

>example, it is only in this season we are getting to

>since Season 2. Sex with Spike, is opening up Buffy in
>ways that she hadn't opened up to anyone since
>Surprise/Innocence. Okay, that statement can be taken
>from the gutter, so that's not what I meant. :)

LOL. :) Then again, we wouldn't have gotten this at all if there were no seasons beyond season 5. I think most of this *planning* comes to chance sometimes or what the writers think is popular.

>Well, I hope things turn out well for you on the Angel
>front.

Hope so, but I doubt the FG will get better development anytime soon. It's okay though. Went through the same thing with BtVS, which I don't watch anymore. Heh. So weird, I am. I crack myself up (with laughter)sometimes when I look back on things.

As for Smallville, how's the Lex/Clark
>chemistry ;)Lana's sweet, but she doesn't feel quite
>human to me.

The actress has this way of over acting. She's getting better as each episode goes along. Funny that the actress is in her teens, yet she seems older than Welling who's actually 24. So weird. Are they supposed to be Freshmen in Smallville because that's a stretch if I ever saw one! It's all fun nonetheless. :)

Lex/Lana's chemistry is tres interesting. Did you see last week's with the girl that wanted to lose weight so she drank a kryptonite shake to slack off the weight? LOL. There were a couple scenes b/w Lex and Lana where it seemed like Lex was moving onto Lana (who was waiting for Clark), yet at the same time kept his distance. The actor that plays Lex is very good. He can convey so much in so less.

Lex, on the other hand, well, let's just
>say he's yummy-licious. :) He's the first Lex Luthor
>who's bald to actually have me rooting for him. No,
>that's not correct, the guy who played Lex on The New
>Adventures of Lois and Clark, had me rooting for him
>because he was the first Lex to have *hair*. I was
>quite disappointed when he came back in the second
>season all bald.

LOL, that is soo funny.

>~Khali, who has to wrestle over whether to tape
>Smallville or tape 24 on Tuesday nights.

I caught a little of the pilot and I didn't like it. Maybe if I saw more episodes I'd change my mind. I kept yelling at the tv screen because those two girls did some of the most stupidest things when it came to escaping their kidnappers. =)
