Subject: Arguably Pendles makes his teammates work harder in that regard
In reply to: muddy 's message, "Bucks was the best field passer the game has ever seen. He brought others into play." on 08:09 30/11/24 Sat

If we look at it like target practice... Pendles would make the target move to where he wanted to put the ball and he'd put it out in front to run onto. Bucks would just hit the target on the bullseye wherever it was standing or was already moving to. And could do it from much longer range.

I do think Pendles is the better leader though and less likely to try to do things all on his own. BUT Pendles has also had the benefit of usually having a good midfield around him. For a long time Bucks was the midfield. It was all reliant on him having an exceptional day to get the Pies across the line. Pendles has never really had to carry that burden. There's always been a Swan or DeGoey or Beams or Treloar or Sidebottom or even Grundy to help him out. Now there's also Nick Daicos.

When you think about gun midfielders that lined up next to Buckley it's not as star studded. Some handy names, sure. But not on the level of support that Pendles has had. With respect to Scotty Burns, who I loved as a player, I'd take all of those names above over him if I were picking a midfield.

Nick kind of fell into Buckley territory a bit last year. With no Mitchell or DeGoey. Our performances started to rely more on him dominating. He's lucky that for now we still have some older players that can support him - and a very good lineup everywhere else on the ground
