With heavy paws and a lagging tail, Sorryn dragged himself out of his den on the outskirts of the territory for a brusque afternoon patrol of the grounds. The and surrounding his home in the dilapidated gatehouse were largely populated with brush, both spiny and prickling, discouraging most large predators from invasion. He liked it- gave him peace of mind while he slept. And, well, he liked his solitude. With his russet ears pricked forward towards the space beyond him, Sorryn picked up his pace to a slow trot, forcing himself to stretch old, tired muscles and move tail.

He picked his way past a fortress of overgrown rosebushes, just beginning to sport red blooms, and shimmed on his stomach under an archway of brambles. Leaping to his feet on the other side of the plants, he shook off his feet and let out a squawk of pain. Ack. Thorn. He pulled it out with his teeth and spat onto the ground. Foul, absolutely fowl. A bath would be needed, soon, if he wanted to catch game ever again. Slowly and surely, Sorryn wound his way down the small deer-path that had been worn into the muddy ground, taking each step with the assurance that came from years of knowledge. His warrior's instincts, as keen as they had been when he was a yearling, knew that something was strange before he himself had a chance to react.

What's this? He paused, taking his cue from the prickling sensation running up and down his ruff. Sorryn dropped onto his haunches and inhaled, deeply- quickly catching the smell of wolf on the breeze. Oh. Well, that wasn't necessarily a problem. But, then again... Better safe than sorry, they say.

He took off towards the scent trail as quietly as he could manage. If it was one of his siblings-in-arms, he would slink away without notice; he had no wish to cause a diversion. If it would be a foreigner...well...c'est la vie. This is not your home.

Sorryn located his prey within a fifteen minute search, noting the crushing of the leaves and the sheen of exposed fur with a soft snort of surprise. Bless my paws, she's little. Poor darling, what are you doing out in a place like this? Shouldn't you be home with mamma? He thought, reaching out and shaking the pup's side with one of his massive bronze paws.
