I agree with you about IV. I would liken it to Mustang Village x10. San Luis Obsipo is a complete college town in the purist sense. I.V. is a suburb (if that) of S.B. Almost like what Oildale is to Bakersfield (just joking) Case in point does I.V. have it's own police force, and separate city council? I agree with everything else Gauchofreg says about ucsb's upside potential, but think that CAL POLY fills that mold better, ie we have a beach, women, we are not a commuter school, the Mustangs are virtually the only game in town, and we are ranked even higher academically. Of the negatives Gauchofreg cited we suffer the same with the exception of the "hippies against the establishment/sports drama" of the 60's and 70's.
